Domestic Press Highlights (16-05-2009) Workers’ Month honours labourers Many labourers, including young migrant workers, in HCM City are being honoured during the Workers’ Month, an annual event held in May by the HCM City’s Labour Union. This year the theme is “A better life for HCM City labourers”, featuring a variety of cultural and community programmes. The month aims to encourage labourers, particularly youth, to improve their knowledge and working skills and participate in social and charity activities. Nguoi Lao Dong (The Labourer) Big trees could fall over during rainy season HCM City has nearly 70,000 trees on streets, many of them large and old and in danger of injuring local residents during the rainy season, according to the HCM City’s Park and Green Tree Company. The company’s director Tran Thien Ha said his staff must be especially careful when they climb on larger, taller and weaker trees during trimming and cutting.
