Agency officials are scheduled to appear before the Legislature this week for an oversight hearing. Among the many topics to be discussed is the recent audit conducted by the Office of Public Accountability. Auditors found $50,000 in un-deposited bus fares, no accounting system of funds, and a lack of basic controls to address typical risks to cash, such as misuse and theft. Monthly bank reconciliations were not performed and receipts were not reconciled to ensure all bus fares were deposited in a timely manner. The oversight hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 5th at three o’clock in the afternoon.
