It was especially enjoyable for the 2018 Award Recipients: Judge John Ing introduced Judge John Lawson II, who received the Justice Sandy Lucas Judicial Officer of the year award. He was selected based on his commitment to the accountability and rehabilitation of at-risk youth. In 2012, he worked with the Long Beach Unified School District to develop an early intervention program. Lawyer of the year went to David Haberbush, introduced by Marc Alleroth and Vanessa Haberbush (David Haberbush’s daughter). They did a clever presentation about how it was “growing up as the child of a bankruptcy attorney.” Linda Guthman Krieger was installed as president, Rebecca “Reba” Birmingham as president-elect, Robin Perry as vice president, and Alison Flowers as secretary-treasurer of the Long Beach Bar Association.
